Petition Statement
This is an effort to restore the Battle for the Beer Barrel, a trophy awarded to the winner of the Tennessee-Kentucky football game.
The Battle for the Beer Barrel began in 1925, but due to a fatal alcohol related car accident involving student athletes from the University of Kentucky (Nov. 1998) the tradition ended.
Friends of the Beer Barrel urge you to please sign our online petition to bring back the Battle for the Beer Barrel. Once we have gathered an adequate number of signatures, we plan to approach both university's athletic directors and request that the trophy return to this annual boarder-rivalry football game.
